Meet Your Integrative Medicine Specialist

Dr. Jara McDonald is a board-certified family medicine physician who enjoys helping patients set and reach their own health goals. After years in a traditional fee-for-service practice, she started Soldara to be able to spend the time she feels is required to truly help patients of any age return to health and reach their full potential.

Complex medical cases, mental health, diabetes, weight loss, patient education and treating whole families have remained her favorite parts of practicing medicine.

Jara McDonald

Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician

Jara was born in Nevada to a special education teacher and a salesman. She completed her undergraduate degree at UNLV, and medical school at the University of Nevada School of Medicine. Her love of comprehensive family medicine led her to a rural residency program affiliated with the University of California – Davis in Redding, California. A special interest in psychiatry led her to multiple elective psychiatry rotations in residency, including pediatric psychiatry, which uniquely poised her to function comfortably integrating mental health with physical wellness. Texas began calling her name while she was in medical school when her dad built a house in Blanco and despite a winding journey she got here as fast as she could. Texas Hill Country is a permanent home for her, her husband Keigan, their two young sons and her rescue pup.

Dr. McDonald takes the time to explain, explore options of treatment and displays a real interest in getting to the bottom of the problem. She also cares about my opinion. I've never encountered a family doctor this thorough.
